Located 23 miles north of Miami on the gorgeous southeast coast of Florida, Ft. Lauderdale is known as the “Venice of America” for its many canals and waterways. In fact, Ft. Lauderdale has over 160 miles of navigable canals and waterways throughout the city. Ft. Lauderdale is a visitor’s paradise offering terrific weather year round with plenty of sunshine and warm ocean breezes.  Ft. Lauderdale boasts some of the most beautiful of Florida’s beaches. One of the most popular attractions in Ft. Lauderdale is a boat tour through the city including “Millionaire’s Row”, where some of the most extravagant mansions and villas in the world are located.  Ft. Lauderdale is home to over 40,000 boats including a huge number of mega-yachts, and an enormous cruise ship dock.  Ft. Lauderdale hosts the largest annual boat show in the world where visitors can goggle over the most over the top luxurious yachts around.  The Ft. Lauderdale area is also home to more than 40 golf courses, making it a very popular golfing destination.  The waters off Ft. Lauderdale are home to over 75 artificial and several natural reefs, many just 100 yards offshore, making Ft. Lauderdale a fantastic destination for scuba and snorkeling, and are considered one of the top ten wreck diving locations in the world. Other popular water sports on Ft. Lauderdale’s sparkling beaches include parasailing, windsurfing, kite surfing, surfing, kayaking, jet skiing, sailing, and of course sunbathing.

Ft. Lauderdale has a proud cultural community as well.  The charming Riverwalk through downtown features a center for performing arts, a science museum, an art museum, a cultural and historical museum, boat tours, historical landmarks, shops, restaurants and more. Nature lovers will love Ft. Lauderdale for its stunning natural beauty.  Airboat and safari trips to the Everglades National Park gives visitors an up close and personal view of hundreds of species of exotic birds, American alligator and crocodile, many snake and fish species, manatee, and possibly a glimpse of the elusive Florida panther.  A visit to Butterfly World will delight old and young as many hued butterflies flutter amongst tropical gardens and waterfalls.  Other residents of Butterfly World include hummingbirds and lorikeets.   Ft. Lauderdale’s waterways are home to a large population of manatees and sightings are quite common. 

Ft. Lauderdale has a multitude of dining options from quaint waterfront bistros to fantastic steakhouses, and world-class seafood.  From Latin fusion, Cuban, Caribbean, Italian, American surf and turf, and more, the choices are endless, and range from moderate to expensive.  Nightlife in Ft. Lauderdale offers a variety of choices including Jazz clubs, dance clubs, comedy clubs, sports bars, open air cafes featuring live music, country and western bars, salsa clubs, and more.  With so many choices, there is no end to the fun you can have on a Ft. Lauderdale night. Ft. Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport has non-stop flights from over 40 cities on over 30 airlines, making it a very accessible destination. 


The waters off Ft. Lauderdale are teeming with life.  Big game fish are plentiful including Atlantic blue marlin, white marlin, sailfish, swordfish, wahoo, blackfin, dolphin (mahi-mahi, barracuda, shark, and king mackerel.  Reef and wreck fishing is great for grouper, amberjack, jack Crevalle, yellowtail snapper, cobia, sea bass, barracuda, and shark.  Inshore fishing in Ft. Lauderdale’s many waterways is great for tarpon, snook, jack Crevalle, and barracuda.  You can even go fresh water fishing in nearby Lake Okeechobee for huge largemouth bass and bluegill.


Ft. Lauderdale boasts great weather year round.  Its sub tropical climate has high temperatures ranging from the low to mid 70’s in winter up to the mid to high 80’s in the peak of the summer.  Rainfall is heaviest in summer and the best summer fishing is early morning, evening, or nighttime for swordfish.  Ft. Lauderdale is home to many charter fishing boats, with friendly and helpful teams that can cater to most any size fishing party and most any skill level. Fishing in Ft. Lauderdale is terrific year round and most species have been caught in all seasons. Some species are more common at different times of year.  Fishing for barracuda, yellowtail snapper, and dolphin (mahi-mahi, wahoo and inshore fishing for tarpon is equally good in all seasons. Snook, cobia, and amberjack are best in the spring months, while bonita and most shark species are most common in the fall and winter.  Marlin is most frequently caught in the winter and again in the summer, while sailfish are most common in the winter and spring.  Swordfish are year round residents, and the best time to catch swordfish is on a night fishing trip. Freshwater fishing  is terrific year round as well.


Ft. Lauderdale has much to offer as a charter fishing destination.  Gorgeous beaches, miles of inland waterways, great water sports, world-class golf and scuba, extravagant mansions and mega-yachts, diverse and delicious dining, arts, culture, nature adventures, friendly people, and unbeatable year round fishing make Ft.
