The Treasure Coast gets its name from the great hurricane of 1715 that sank the Spanish Fleet, leaving a treasure trove of gold, silver, jewels and more on the bottom of the sea. What makes the Treasure Coast a treasure today is the spectacular reef system that has grown off of these wrecks as well as other manmade and natural reefs that give divers some of the best scuba in Florida. Other popular water sports include kayaking, sailing, jet skiing, and windsurfing. Ft. Pierce offers many cultural and historical attractions. Downtown Ft. Pierce’s historical district has been renovated and features charming art galleries, shops, and restaurants for unbeatable window shopping. Ft. Pierce boasts a gorgeous semi-tropical climate with warm sunny weather year round. Winter high temperatures average in the mid 70’s and summer temperatures average mid 80’s to 90 degrees. The rainiest part of year is late summer, but there is still plenty of sunshine. There are many charter fishing charters available from smaller inshore skiffs for 2-4 people to large offshore luxury fishing yachts for fantastic deep sea fishing for large or small parties.
