Captains Bernie and Marge are a husband and wife team, both licensed Coast Guard Captains, that have a true passion for fishing. They have been feeding this passion for over 30 years. They love to take people fishing, whether you are an experienced angler or it is your first time, and sharing this passion with you and your friends or family. The couple will encourage their guests to be a part of the whole experience from baiting the hooks (you don’t have to if you don’t want to), pulling leaders and even netting the fish (most of the time). They hope that after a day spent on the water aboard the Margie D that you too will now share their passion.

The Margie D fishes the waters of the Chesapeake Bay from Early Spring to Late Fall. Early spring in the Chesapeake means one thing, Trophy Striper Season. The Striper, also known as a striped bass and to locals as a rockfish, is usually very large and fresh from the ocean during this time of year, moving into the Bay to spawn. Because of their size, ranging from 15 pounds to over 50 pounds, hooking up with this fish is truly a chance of a lifetime and a real trophy catch to always remember. But stripers are not the only fish that make the Chesapeake their home. After the Striper season is over in late May, there are plenty of other fish to catch. During the summer months trolling the Chesapeake will attract larger bluefish and Spanish mackerel and some smaller sized stripers or you can go bottom fishing to hook up with flounder, spot and croakers.

The Margie D is docked out of Solomon Island Maryland. Solomon Island is located where the Patuxent River enters the Chesapeake Bay, and is a perfect place for a day excursion from the hustle of the city, a weekend retreat or a relaxing vacation. The town offers wonderful local shops, historic sites to visit, exceptional dining experiences and of course first class fishing. It is conveniently located for day trips from many of the big cities on the Chesapeake Bay like Washington DC, Baltimore MD and Annapolis MD.
