Stuart is located along Florida’s Treasure Coast on its central Atlantic coastline.  Stuart is known as the “sailfish capital of the world” for its unbeatable year round fishing for sailfish and other billfish.  Stuart also boasts a charming small town community surrounded by lush natural beauty.  Visitors will feel a million miles away from the high rise hotels and resorts, spring break party towns, and packed beaches found in many of Florida’s coastal communities.  Stuart is a peaceful small town that has a charming riverfront downtown area offering restaurants, shops, antique stores, art galleries, boutiques, a waterfront boardwalk, and many charming historical sites.  Stuart’s location on the Treasure Coast makes it a great place for scuba.  The Treasure Coast gets its name from the shipwrecks of the Spanish fleet in a 1715 hurricane which sunk untold amounts of gold, silver, and other treasure to the bottom of the sea.  The real treasure is now the miles of manmade and natural reefs off Stuart’s shores that are teeming with marine life, making for some of the best diving around.  Other popular water sports include sailing, kayaking, surfing, jet skiing, swimming, and snorkeling.  Cross the bridge to the small town of Palm City to enjoy great golf, tennis and horseback riding.

Stuart is home to the Florida Oceanographic Coastal Center, a huge aquatic center featuring many tanks of local sea creatures including a game fish lagoon, stingray tank, children’s activity pavilion, and other colorful and interesting aquarium tanks.  Stuart is also home to the St. Lucie Inlet Preserve State Park on Jupiter Island, a stunning natural mangrove and barrier island setting.  Accessible by boat from Stuart, the park is full of flora and fauna and is a popular nesting site for several species of endangered sea turtles. Stuart, Florida is a perfect place to get lost in small town charm, but is located within 2 hours major Florida attractions including Disney World, Universal Studios, Sea World, and Kennedy Space Center for those looking for hustle and bustle excitement.  Stuart is within 65 miles of Melbourne International Airport and Palm Beach International Airport.  Rental cars are widely available and a great way to get around.

Stuart is known as the “sailfish capital of the world” for good reason.  Sailfish are among the most common and popular catches when fishing Stuart, Florida.  Other big game fish commonly caught include:  dolphin (mahi-mahi), wahoo, marlin, swordfish, blackfin tuna, skipjack tuna, and yellowfin tuna. Reef and wreck fishing is great for several species of grouper, sea bass, triggerfish, and snapper.  Inshore fishing is great for tarpon, snook, trout, sheepshead, black drum, and pompano, jacks, mackerel, and bluefish along the beaches and near shore.

Stuart, Florida is a sub-tropical paradise that offers great sunny weather and warm ocean breezes year round.
