Virginia

Fishing & Travel Destination

The coast of Virginia, from the east shores of the Delmarva Peninsula, to the Chesapeake Bay, to Virginia Beach, provides excellent charter fishing opportunities for a number of nearshore, reef, and offshore species.

East Shore

Virginia’s famous East Shore consists of the southern tip of the Delmarva Peninsula, as well as Cape Charles, Cape Henry and Virginia Beach. Whether you wish to pursue offshore species in the deep waters of the Atlantic such as marlin, dolphin, tuna, and wahoo, or head into the rich fishing grounds of the many reefs and shipwrecks, or the lower Chesapeake Bay to target striped bass, flounder, gray trout, spadefish, tautog, red and black drum, and cobia, Virginia’s East Shore has it all. With so many species to target, fishing seasons run year round.

Chesapeake Bay

The Chesapeake Bay in Virginia, from Hampton to Deltaville boasts one of the richest marine ecosystems on the Mid-Atlantic Coast. Cobia, red and black drum, flounder, croaker, sheepshead, spadefish, trout, bluefish, rockfish, and striped bass (stripers) provide virtually endless rod-bending excitement. Striped bass, or stripers, offer pound for pound some of the best fighting action in the Chesapeake Bay. Charter captains, familiar with the area and local fishing trends, can ensure a successful fishing trip.

Virginia is known for its rich history, scenic coastal communities, and great seafood. It is also a fantastic place for a charter fishing vacation.
